What you get

What a managed
social retainer
actually gets you

5 min read

Most founders think AGENCY and picture a number with too many zeros. Here's what it actually involves and why it costs less than you'd guess.

There's a moment a lot of founder-led brands reach: the social is important, it's not getting the attention it needs and the thought of handing it over crosses your mind — right before you assume you can't afford to. So you keep doing it yourself. This is for that moment. Here's what handing it over actually looks like, and why the price is usually lower than the picture in your head.

What managed actually means

When we manage a brand's social, we take the whole thing off your plate — not a piece of it. That means the strategy (what to post, where, and why), the content itself (photos, video, design, captions in your voice), the calendar, the scheduling and publishing, the replying to comments and messages and a regular read on what's working so it keeps improving. You're not briefing us weekly or chasing tasks. You approve and it runs.

The point of it is simple: your social stops being a thing you have to think about so you can focus on the business. It gets handled, consistently by people who do this all day. You get your time and attention back for the parts of the business only you can do.

Who it's actually for

Being honest about fit: managed social suits the brand that's grown past doing it themselves but isn't at the point of building an in-house marketing team. You've got a real product and real customers, your social matters to how you're seen and the DIY version has quietly stopped keeping up or is just incosistent. That's the sweet spot — too big to keep winging it, not ready to hire and manage someone in-house.

It's less right for a brand whose social is tiny and occasional, or one that genuinely wants a full-time person sitting in the building every day. If that's you, we'll say so. But most brands we talk to are squarely in the first group — they just hadn't found the right way to hand it over.

The part people get wrong: the cost

Here's the assumption that stops most people before they even ask: that an agency retainer is a luxury, priced for big companies. It isn't. For a small brand, managed social usually costs a fraction of what people imagine and noticeably less than putting one person on the payroll to do the same job.

The reason is the comparison people run in their head is wrong. They picture Agency and think of the number a large firm charges a large client. But a small studio working with a small brand is a different thing entirely. When you weigh it against the real alternative: a salaried hire, plus their software, plus the time to manage them — a retainer is the cheaper, lighter option. You get a team's range, all the tools included, and nothing to manage, for less than that one hire would cost you.

We're deliberately not putting prices on this page, because the honest answer depends on your brand — how much you post, what you need made, whether it's the full thing or part of it. But the number is almost always lower than the one you're bracing for. The fastest way to find out is to ask.

How to find out what it'd cost you

You don't have to commit to anything to get a number. Tell us a bit about your brand and where your social is stuck, and we'll come back with a straight answer — what we'd do, and what it would cost — usually within a couple of days. If it's not a fit, or a hire genuinely suits you better, we'll tell you that too.
